Dan,

By using some idle on your setup, you are having the brake disengaged; although this may help the noise issue, the benefit of having the brake is no longer there.  I am also using similar combo (HV85 instead) without issues, and I am running fireware 3.20, with throttle response set at "Slow", so if you are having different settings, you might want to give this a try.  Meanwhile, did you have the data recording feature turned on?  If yes, perhaps try turning it off and see if that makes any difference.

Hope this helps.

Kevin

I've had the same issue with several motor/esc combinations.  I now run with a low idle and it is no longer an issue.  Ifr you want to run the brake, I'd suggest a lower strength setting.

Have a little problem with a CC ICE 80 HV controller.  Maybe some of the wisdom on the forum can guide me in the right direction.  I have about 200 flights on this plane and controller in the past 3 to 3 1/2 months.  Everything has been just fine and trouble free.  I am running a EVO 30 Pletty with the reccommended set up from this forum and it is great.  Last Friday I heard a noise when I added power during a flight, it sounded like a prop slipping a bit on the motor.  Today before flying I checked the prop nut and tightened it a tad, it was not really loose.  Started flying and every time I would go from low throttle or break and add power I would here a short noise as before, not really a screech but more like popish scrape (sorry sounds are hard to type).  It would not last but a second and then everything was normal.  It would do this everytime when advancing from low throttle/brake to more power.  Sooooo, I pushed the idle trim up a bit and voila, no more sound, everything was just fine.

Any ideas?

Oh and on a second note, this is a really fine forum for us and I for one would love to see more posting on the topics.  I know I check here everyday to see if anything new is posted.

Thanks

Dan Curtis

I have two C50 14XL w/GB Acro (non Comp version) motors for sale for $200 each. One has one flight on it after total rebuild, the other I put about 20 flights on after I bought it off of another well known pattern guy out west, it runs great, no issues that I'm aware of. If you want both, I'll throw in an extra gearbox!

I'll pay for shipping for the contiguous 48 states, Paypal preferred.

I've been doing a similar routine, five 6 minute flights keeping the current down, but you could do a more controlled break-in by doing it on the ground with a Watt meter.  You could set the current and watch the mAhr used.  I'm convinced you want to do a break-in but I'm not sure what the best procedure is.

Getting there, work has been very busy.   Have some nice new batteries that I am testing for work someday the cost will be low enough for us to use in the Planes. Have part of the glow fleet up and flying.
The Nickel Zinc cells should be out ,AA size 1.6 volts   think these  would be good for  Transmitter.

That looks great!  We all take the design and add something cool then the next guy builds one and adds something

Since I stole a lot of Chris' ideas I feel obligated to share mine. I have the additional requirement of being able to use the IOTA as a battery charger for our travel trailer. This configuration allows me to leave the tray (with chargers) at home.
